In today’s environment, when due to a number of various constraints new power transmission lines construction becomes a real challenge, power utilities see the solution in increasing the capacity of the existing assets. To push more electricity flowing through the power lines requires a thorough analysis of the power grid. At OPTEN we conduct thermal uprating studies to work out the uprating scenario.
Thermal uprating study presupposes identifying the exact maximum thermal limit for safe performance of the power line. It will become a much less complicated process with laser survey data, which serves an excellent basis for design drawings and elaboration of the most appropriate re-rating solutions.
Three-dimensional information about actual power line geometry and condition brings into the spotlight all relevant details along the route of the power line. Accurate data about the terrain and conductors collected during LiDAR survey allows us creating a comprehensive report verifying the line's maximum thermal operating capacity specifying the temperature, at which the conductors could violate their minimum clearance to the ground, vegetation and other on-ground objects.
To uprate the line there could be just a couple of critical places to investigate – we will deliver to you the exact information about these locations in the format you specify ready for use in your applications.
Our technology and services allow our Customers receiving accurate and up-to-date information about critical locations along the power line route – all with a productivity of hundreds of km per day.
It is not the “laser points”, which is the product – it is the accurate data in the format you use. Whether it is a CAD application, GIS or a database – we deliver the final product to meet your needs.
