Aerial Laser Scanning
In 1997, OPTEN Limited was performing a pre-design surveying for construction of a long distance fiber-optic communication line. For this purpose we had purchased a set of airborne laser terrain mapper. It was the first laser scanner in Russia at this point of time. The choice of laser scanning technology was determined by high precision, density and originally 3D nature of geodetic data. This sort of data is an optimal source for contemporary
FOCL and OHL designing, specifically when using
specialized software. Laser Scanning technology’s successful application for our own needs has then lead to that OPTEN had begun to render aerial survey and data processing services, that had become a separate business of the company.
Our 20-year long experience in aerial survey performance, multiple data post-processing and quality control techniques, as well as permanently upgraded hardware, has made it possible to offer most advanced and high quality mapping and terrain and objects modeling solutions for a wide variety of industries and applications. Our past and present clients include power utilities, telecom operators, design and survey, piping corporations, ecologists, builders etc. worldwide. With all variety of data processing outcomes, the following is what our customer normally gets:
• Digital Terrain Model;
• Survey Points Feature Coding;
• Topographic Plan of 1:1000 and smaller scale;
• Digital Orthophotoplan

In our aerial mission we use laser scanner sets Orion C300, ALTM 3100 (Airborne Laser Terrain Mapper) by Optech, ALS50 by Leica. High resolution digital photo camera is installed onboard along with lidar set. Up to 2017, OPTEN used several cameras by Rollei and Trimble. In the end of 2016 we decided to expand our hardware list and purchased a newest iXU-RS 1000 by Phase One, featuring up to 100 MP resolution, 0.6 sec Capture rate, 50 - 6400 ISO Light sensitivity, and manufacturer guaranteed 500,000 shutter releases.
